New Additions to Team Vitality
Over the past a few months Team Vitality has announced a shake up of its roster leading up to the 2022 LEC Summer Split. The team announced that jungler Self-made was to leave the team after coaches realising that his play-style could not be mixed with the others on the team.
In a statement, Team Vitality stated that “Selfmade is an incredibly talented player and well-liked within the team”. Following the team change was the addition of new League of Legends jungler, Kang “Haru” Min-seung.
Haru is a former world champion, playing for teams such as Samsung Galaxy, Gen.G and T1. In 2017, he won the League of Legends World Championship which pushed him to become a popular player across the globe.
Moving from South Korea into a European team is a bold move. This isn’t overly common, especially due to logistical issues such as language barriers and cultural differences. However, after his success with X7, it is no doubt that Haru will be a worthy and significant addition to Team Vitality.
As well as the addition of Haru, Team Vitality have also welcomed Chinese player Zhou “Bo” Yang-Bo. Bo will develop as a substitute for the team whilst he acquires his visa and learns English.
Bo began his professional career in 2020 and played for Chinese team FPX. FPX are a successful team that had previously won LPL splits multiple times and won LoL Worlds in 2019. Whilst a successful player, there are some controversy that surrounds him. He was previously banned from playing League of Legends for four months due to match-fixing.
Vitality have expressed their excitement about the two new players and look forward to seeing the “superstar potential”. Whilst excited, the team also stated that whilst Bo has seen victory and success they want him to have time to adjust to the culture and language. Even though some time has passed since Haru participated in a major league, head of Vitality, Mephisto showed his excitement and stated that he was confident Haru would bring the team “more victories and success”.
With the LEC Summer Split already well underway, it is exciting to see what the new additions to the team may bring.
