Amazon University Esports To Return For Spring Split

Amazon University Esports, a tournament created for university students in the United Kingdom and Ireland is returning for a spring split with a new university leaderboard.

For the first time, Apex Legends have been added as a regular part of the tournament alongside League of Legends, Teamfight Tactics, CSGO, Overwatch 2, Valorant and Rainbow Six Seige. On top of the addition of Apex Legends is the Amazon University Leaderboard which will allow every team and player to add to their university total by playing and winning games.

Currently, following the winter split, the University of Warwick holds the top spot. However, with the introduction of the university leaderboard it is anyones games. Just behind Warwick is Imperial College London in second and Bristol University in third.

Esports has become ingrained into educational institutions over the last few years. Just a few months ago we saw industry experts at ESI London discuss how esports can change the way students learn and work. The introduction of esport's throughout curriculums can also open doors for those who were unsure of a career and lacked any knowledge of a particular industry.

The Amazon University Esports team has also announced a University Tour. With this, they will travel across the UK visiting multiple universities to raise awareness of the competition and show students the environment and experiences that are linked to esports.

On top of these new developments, Amazon University Spring Split is also leading to a Europe wide masters tournament. All of the Amazon University tournaments are restarting ready for the spring season with teams battling it out for a spot in the March and April grand finals.

Players of Rocket League, League of Legends, Valiant, Teamfight Tactics and Clash Royale will also get the chance to represent Britain at the Amazon University Esports Masters, an event that brings together the best teams from 16 countries.

Amazon University Esports has a clear focus on participation, education and training via workshops and lectures. There are an increase in the amount of jobs availble for those working in esports with paid roles offered to entry level staff.
