6 AI trends to look out for in 2022
Artificial intelligence has grown exponetially in the last decade. With some claiming that the technology will have more of an effect on society than the discovery of fire, it is intriguing to think about what comes next.
| Language Modelling
Language modelling is an internsting concept. With a sufficient amount of resources, AI’s are able to take natural language and use it to create code. Throughout our daily tasks we experience a simple type of language modelling. An example of this is when typing sentences in a document, programmes predict the next word or sentences.
One company that is working towards building a more advanced langauge modelling system is Open AI. They previously created GPT-3 which allowed natural language to be transformed into code across a variety of systems. With the upcoming GPT-4, the company are aiming to improve on this and make it more intelligent and automatic.
| Cyber-security
Becoming much more reliant on automation and online services has opened the door for more cyber attacks and hacking. With the majority of our lives being online and our data being stored in cloud databases, cyber security is more important than ever before.
Using AI to locate attacks and stop them at the root is becoming a lot more common. Ever since the Cambridge Analytica scandal people are concerned about where their data is stored and how it is used. Utilising artificial intelligence to identify patters of attacks will prevent and deter hackers from trying to gain access to personal data.
| The Metaverse
One element of digitisation that has become significant this year is the metaverse. Made mainstream via Facebook becoming ‘Meta’. We can all be expected to immerse ourselves into the virtual world sooner rather than later.
The Metaverse is likely to be driven and powered usign artifical intelligence. Immersing ourselves into the digital world, where we can play, learn and work, will be created and sustained using automation and deep-learning to create chat-bots and endless settings.
| Low/No Code
The creation of artificial intelligence systems relies on a series of code similarly to web design. More recently we have seen web design and HTML coding become a lot more accessible and easy to use. With the creation of platforms such as Sqaurespace, WordPress and Wix, designers are able to simply drag and drop elements and edit CSS in a simple customise section.
This is the likely future of AI design. Industry leaders have predicted that over the next year, creating AI will be much more accessible and easier to create. This could boost the AI sector exponentially, making it a much more lucrative industry.
| Autonomous Vehicles
Autonomous vehicles are set to become the new standard with in the next decade. Leading the way is companies like Tesla, Ford and General Motors. There are several vehicles that already offer some form on automation. Some Tesla models are able to self-drive and park with the attention of the driver. However, they are not 100% autonomous.
Several countries have rules set in place for self-driving vehicles. Lane detection and obstacle detection has become extremely advanced in certain modes meaning that governments have no reason to not allow these cars on the road. With the addition of tech giants Google, Sony and Apple joining the autonomous vehicle game, it is exciting to see what comes next.
Creative AI
Creative AI has grown a lot. It has come from what was basically a gimmick to becoming a prestige and recognised artform. OpenAI the same company as mentioned before, created a platofrm called Dall.E 2. This software can read a set of words and create original, life-like and accurate images. Prior to this, the company had a similar programme that created images in a more animated/CGI style.
The likeness and hyperreality of these images is shocking and impressive. We at Rewired Talks cannot wait to see what users create.
